Role Summary
The Corporate North America Controller is responsible for the review and evaluation of the financial results, the annual business plan, quarterly forecast, and the quarterly and annual financial reporting under the policies and guidelines established by Magna. This position will play a key role in managing the Corporate North American activities at Magna.
Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral
- Lead the finance function for Corporate North America, ensuring the integrity of the accounting policies and standards, the financial governance of the company and the internal control environment.
- Implements changes in Magna's accounting policies and ensures existing Magna accounting policies are applied to all entities.
- Review the consolidated and divisional financial results, monthly/quarterly/annually vs. the budget and forecast.
- Liaise with the internal and external audit teams during annual reviews. Support resolution of issues that arise during the internal and external audit field work.
- Prepares quarterly forecasts and quarterly presentations to senior management.
- Coordinates the global annual business plan reviews, final consolidations, and related presentations
- Contributes to the overall leadership, direction, and strategic development of the business.
- Minimizes foreign currency exposure by managing the foreign currency strategy and places foreign currency contracts where appropriate.
- Ensures system of Internal Control, documentation, and reviews are being performed.
- Oversees the Corporate allocation process and ensures agreement with all Transfer Pricing guidelines.
- Safeguards assets, integrity, and accuracy of financial systems, policies and procedures, and policy enforcement.
- Participate in global projects as required.
- Upholds the principles of the Magna Employee's Charter, Magna's Environmental Health and Safety Policy & Procedures. Must understand and respect the laws and cultures in countries in which Magna conducts business.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY
- Manages a team of 13 staff, including direct reports consisting of 2 Assistant Controllers, Senior Financial Analyst and a Finance Manager.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training and developing employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating, rewarding and managing performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems and establishing an effective Succession Plan
- Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with Magna's policies and applicable laws
FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
- Responsible for a business plan of $US 200M in corporate costs
- Support Magna's public company reporting requirements
- Support and execute Magna's compliance programs
- Financial and operational knowledge, as well as knowledge of regulations, policies and procedures that affect the company.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-secondary degree in Finance or Accounting
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or equivalent designation
- 7+ years post-designation in financial management gained within a complex corporate environment
- 3+ years leading high functioning teams
- Expertise in financial control and reporting
- Extensive experience in managing, developing, and motivating a professional organization

- Periodic travel within North America is possible but will not constitute a significant portion of the job.
